Mahrez admits Arsenal contact

Leicester City midfielder Riyad Mahrez has admitted Arsenal made an approach to sign him during the summer, but he did not try to force the move through, writes Neil McLeman of mirror

Arsene Wenger was known to be keen on the PFA Player of the Year, with reports in France suggesting Mahrez was interested in a switch to north London.

Mahrez admits there was interest from the Gunners - but says he never encouraged their approaches.

"There was contact with Arsenal," Mahrez told Canal Football Club. "But Leicester wanted to keep me and I was pretty expensive.


"I did not want to create a conflict when the offer came in."
